Nursing Services
In conjunction with the doctors, the practice nurses offer:-
- Blood pressure monitoring
- Diabetic reviews
- Breathing (spirometry) test (Currently on hold due to Coronavirus)
- Diet and exercise advice
- Advice to prevent Coronary Heart Disease
- Cervical smear service
- Over 75 years annual assessments
- Travel vaccination (allow 6 weeks to complete your immunisations)
- Cardiovascular Risk Assessment (MOTs)
- Chlamydia Screening
- Minor Ailments (ask receptionist for advice)
For the above services, book an appointment at reception and inform them of the service required.
Chronic Disease Management
If you are taking medication for a long term condition, please contact the GP reception on the month of your birthday regarding your annual review.
Diabetes
All diabetics require a routine check-up annually. Please book an appointment with your GP or nurse and tell reception staff that you require a “DIABETIC CHECK-UP”. Free annual eye checks are available at your optician. Free chiropody service is available at the health centre.
Asthma
Stable asthmatic patients are encouraged to attend for review on an annual basis to optimise their performance.

Please make a review appointment with your GP in the month of your birthday.
Child Health Services

Weekly baby clinics are run by the community clinic. They help to monitor the health of children below 5 years. All children will automatically be offered the national vaccination programme. Injections start when babies are 8 weeks old.
Keep your baby's immunisations and developmental checks up to date by bringing your baby to our baby clinic on Tuesdays by appointment 10am to 12 noon (walk-ins welcome). Please note this clinic is injections and baby 8 week checks only.
Vaccinations are by scheduled appointment although walk-in patients are welcome. When you arrive at the baby clinic please check in first at the GP reception desk.
Health Visitor run Baby Weighing Clinic by Appointment each Monday (Tel 0161 684 9696).
Family Planning Care
Your GP’s provide a family planning service. Please book an appointment at reception.
Maternity Care
Ante-natal care is provided at the Newton Heath Sure Start Children’s Centre every Wednesday from 13:00, please telephone 0161 227 3518 to arrange an appointment. We advise on health checks before becoming pregnant. This will be done routinely if you receive family planning care from your GP and inform him/her of your intention.
