Routine Appointment

To make a doctor/nurse appointment please telephone or call into the surgery during surgery times.

Alternatively use our online booking system, Patient Access, via the link at the top of this page. You must be a fully registered patient at Newton Heath Health Centre to use this system and will need a letter from us containing personalised access codes. Come to the GP reception to ask for Patient Access and you will be given an application form to fill in. You will also need to show 2 forms of ID - photo ID (i.e. passport/driving license) and proof of address (bank statement, utility bill etc. dated within the last three months). The reception staff will subsequently provide you with your personalised registration information.

The first time you access the site you will be asked to create an account (details of how to do this are in the patient registration letter which also contains your personalised access codes).

Evening and Weekend appointments are available in the Extended Access Service.  Ask the receptionist to book an appointment.

Ten minutes is not a great deal of time in which to conduct a consultation with all that it entails, and we suggest the following:

  • Please make separate appointment for each member of your family
  • Avoid bringing a list of problems, as one appointment is really only meant to address one complaint, although we may be prepared to discuss a second, minor complaint in a ten minute appointment, at our discretion.
  • Please don't expect clinicians to complete forms (e.g. benefit claims, holiday cancellation forms etc.) during an appointment. These should be left at reception for collection another day (there may be a charge for this work.

Home Visits

Home visits are restricted to housebound patients - mainly the elderly and chronically sick.  We cannot offer the same range of medical services at home.

If you need a home visit, please contact the surgery before 11am. The receptionist will ask a few details and will then pass the message on to the GP who will contact you by telephone or visit later on in the day. Please note that the visiting doctor may not be your own.

Your GP may refer you to the Acute Home Visiting Team to be visited at home by a community nurse. You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.
